Serenade

So, I bought a new pair of pointe shoes tonight. I have always used Grishko 2007s (with having tried Sansha–which are horrible to break in–and Freeds–which are too wide for me), but I have been having trouble with my big toe. It had been going numb in rehearsals and I feel my toes squishing. I know that pointes are not comfortable anyway, but I am not reaching my toes. Tonight was the breaking point (ha ha!) as I bought new toe pads and they were squishing my toes even more. That’s it! I went to the dance store and got professionally fitted for new shoes. I tried on a ZILLION shoes (which was really fun) until we found a pair that was so comfortable…which is a change from the Grishkos!! They are Bloch Serenades. They fit like a glove! Wow! I can’t wait to sew in the ribbons and the elastics. They suggested that I criss-cross my elastic as well, since my foot is so narrow (with a BIG first toe!). Here is what they look like:

Aren’t they beautiful? I will have to take a pic of them once I break them in. (Alyssa is coming to my “dress” rehearsal next Monday, to I may have her take a pic of me in them.) I also bought a great new black leotard that is uber comfortable. Too bad it’s the end of the dance year. There’s always this summer to have fun and next school year!
